Today I made quite a discovery. I was doing some calculations, and this is what I came up with. This was really very exciting for me.
May 28, 2011 -- I weighed 264 pounds.
November 7, 2011 -- My weight today is 207 pounds, a loss of 57 pounds; a 29 pound loss since just before surgery (236 pounds) -- which is half of what I lost, prior to surgery!
My goal weight is 125 pounds (or less).
264 lbs. (minus) 125 lbs. = 139 lbs. (total loss goal)
139 lbs (divided by) 2 = 69.5 lbs. (which means that I am only 12.5 pounds away from losing half of what my goal is!) How exciting is this, and I am only five weeks out from surgery?!!!!
Which also means, that on average 60-80% excess weight loss can be expected during the first year following WLS, I have only 82 pounds to go to meet my goal! And if I have already lost 57 pounds total, I don't have that far to go.
At the rate I am going, and for the first time since surgery, I am really feeling the best I have in quite a while, I don't think I am going to have to wait another ten/eleven months to reach my goal, don't you think?
This is the BEST thing I have EVER done for myself.
Another thing I have to look forward to is a possible/probable move from Logan to Brigham City at the first of the year. Only my grandson was keeping me in Logan, and now that he and his mother no longer live here, and my friendships are quickly dwindling here in Logan, I have nothing to keep me here. So I have been seriously contemplating on moving to BC.
I have a very dear and loyal friend who lives there. My physical therapist also lives there, which would make his commute to work with me much easier. He still has Cache Valley patients, and he would still be seeing and helping me, but perhaps his Cache Valley days won't need to be so long.
I will keep you updated on my progress and decisions.
Thanks for your comments.
Congratulations, Linda! My first few months I was positively giddy! I still am, I guess, but I am more used to the feeling now.... :)
