Updates Since Gastric Bypass Surgery

WOW!  I hope this works.  I have never done a "BLOG" before.

Today is Friday, October 4th, 2011.  I am just over a month out from surgery by Dr. Rodrick McKinlay.  What a ride this has been.  I have never done anything like this before, for myself.  This is the best think that has happened to me.  I would not change anything.  I just wish I had known that I could have had this life-changing surgery years before.

I have always said that I want to get old, but that I didn't like the "falling-apart" aspect of getting old.  Well, I pretty much fell apart in my 50s.  I had ten surgical procedures in five years, from January 2004 to November 2009.  All but one, had to do with orthopedics.  Well, I have already fallen apart.  Now, I can start living and growing old.

I am looking forward to this new life ahead of me.  I turned 60 on September 12th, and my surgery was on September 30th.

Wish me luck.  My goal is to reach age 75, but having this surgery, I know now that I can live at least 40% longer.  I am looking forward to seeing my only grandchild (Jacob) turning 27 when I am 75.  I'm sure I will have more grandchildren soon.  My son got married three years ago.

So, maybe.  We shall see, but I will not have the bond with other grandchildren as I do with Jacob.  I was his primary caregiver for his first seven years.  We hold a special bond with each other.

Well, here's hoping this works.  Talk with you all later.  By, for now.

  1. Hi Linda,

Congrats on setting up the blog! I'm so excited that you were able to start your journey and that things are going well for you. I didn't get to have my surgery in October (my birthday month). Hopefully it will be before the end of the year. I look forward to hearing about your changes on the forum and occasionally on here. Have fun with your blog and your weight loss success!
